Kaymac Art
Artist based in Nairn, Highland.
Surrounded by stunning coastal scenery, woodland and wildlife
With a deep appreciation for nature, skies, water and animals, I see all of these in my own artistic way.
Art inspired by the natural world

My Story
I’m Kay MacDonald, a self-taught artist with a passion for creativity and storytelling through art. From an early age, I was fascinated by drawing and painting, and over the years, I have developed my skills using various different mediums.
I was born in Falkland, Fife loving animals and the outdoors. This has never changed.
I am now very lucky to live in Nairn, a picturesque seaside town in the Scottish Highlands, where there are unlimited ideas and inspiration to paint.
Our local Community Centre is a hub for all things creative and artistic holding monthly exhibitions at which I have shown and sold my works.
When I moved to Nairn in 2017, I was lucky to be able to have more time to draw and paint. I started drawing pet portrait commissions. I now paint and draw a variety of subjects in several mediums, what medium depends on what the subject is and how I want to portray it.
Whether it be seascapes, woodlands, wildlife, pets or buildings, I enjoy using various different techniques and mediums, especially when painting an abstract piece. Normally with lots of colour!
The feeling of having a vision in mind and seeing it come to life is a special thing which I never tire of. Art is not only naturally creative but relaxing and fun. Whether you are painting, drawing, crafting or enjoying a walk round an Art Gallery.
Art is personal to the artist and the viewer.
I also love to go travelling with my wife and dogs in our campervan, quite often involving Rowing Regattas, as we both do Coastal Rowing. Again, the outdoors comes into play along with the sea. Memories made to paint and then remember again and again.
Translating a moment in time through painting is unique and original.
If you are interested in an original commission or a print of one of my paintings then please get in touch to discuss.
Thanks for visiting my site.

My Art
Artists more often than not, have a signature style that you recognise as 'theirs'.
I've found out over the last number of years that I love to paint different subjects in different mediums in all different styles!
So what's my signature style? I don't really have one.
I just love to create art in whatever form I feel at that time!
BUT I do love sunsets and sunrises so a colourful or moody sky will always be in my portfolio!

The magic of skies
This is one of my favourite pieces for several reasons
The location: Shieldaig, a beautiful village in
The Highlands
The memory: A rowing weekend with friends and our two dogs
The sky and reflections: A joy to paint
Mags: One of our cavapoos who just had to be in the painting
